| The first two decades in 21st century, of great strategic importance, providing favorable surroundings for China's economy development is widely acknowledged; as economic globalization apparently accelerating. To take this strategic advantage, CPC Central Committee and State Council made a series of enactments on the constructing of Old Industrial Regions in Northeast China, in which Dalian Port was expected to be shaped into one of the most significant shipping centers in Northeast Asia.Based on the overall plan of constructing Dalian Port, Heshang Island Area is supposed to be built into channel ro-ro transport system together with coal shipping transport system, making an integral part of modern service system of Dalian Port. However, the potential obstacle is the current width of Heshang Island Channel, which is merely 150m, one-way navigation. Ship traffic being limited by the relatively narrow channel is increasingly obvious. With the increasing numbers of arriving ships, especially ro-ro berthing, the density of Heshang Island Channel getting larger is predictable. In order to tackle the problem mentioned above, this article provided systematic analyses on related channel designing, grounded on the overall plan of Heshang Island Channel, the relationship of ship traffic and channel capacity, combined with the prediction of ship traffic. In addition, this paper conducted a feasibility study on two-way navigation within the width of 240m.After analyzing both natural surroundings and traffic conditions of Heshang Island along with the areas nearby, the writer mainly focused on the regulation of traffic flow and particular problems in the process of operation. Subsequently, this article applied the conclusions of simulation data and offered a certain solutions on widening Heshang Island Channel followed by realizing two-way navigation. The solutions in this article, on the one hand, could effectively decrease the traffic density within current natural surroundings and channel capacity; moreover, the safety of navigation could be largely improved through scientific and rational planning. On the other, to ensure coal and ro-ro berthing on a regular track as well as to further explore the operating potential of Heshang Island Channel, it also shows great practical values by boosting the steps on the construction of Northeast Asia's shipping center. |
