Due to the continuous improvement of power quality requirements, reactive power of compensation is becoming more and more important. It's one of important means for power systems to operate reliably and efficiently. After the advantages and disadvantages have been compared in this paper, the most potential static Var generator is selected as research object, studying it in depth, static Var generator using DSP as the core controller has been developed independently.Firstly, the research status, working principle, control method and reactive current detection method of SVG are introduced. Secondly, the simulation model of SVG is built in Simulink model of MATLAB software and the superiority of SVG is proved in the reactive power compensation field, which lays the foundation of successfully building the hardware experimental platform. Thirdly, the whole structure of SVG diagram that consists of software and hardware is designed. In hardware, SEED_DEC2812V1.0 DSP is used as the controller and the code efficiency is improved greatly by using its powerful computing capabilities. In addition, signal detection circuit, the voltage cross-zero detection circuit, driving IPM circuit, DC power supply circuit and other periphery control circuits are designed. In software, reactive current is accurately detected based on instantaneous reactive power of advanced detection methods. In order to achieve control purposes, the capture voltage cross-zero point procedure, detecting reactive current procedure, driving intelligent power module(IPM) procedure and other procedures are programmed in the Code Compose Studio 3.3 development environment. The accuracy of the control method determines highly on the quality of the whole system. Through a detailed comparison of the advantages and disadvantages between direct current and indirect current control method, a suitable strategy is designed for the system. Finally, the experimental results are obtained on the basis of testing and debugging the system, through analyzing the experimental results detailedly, the feasibility and correctness of the design in this paper are further proved。...
