In the modern war, military need promotes the development of equipment. Hard target smart fuze (HTSF) is one of the key factors to damage the hard prevented targets exactly and the underground deeply buried targets. The key technology is adaptive control technology of the explosion location. The fuze adopts many kinds of function, including the timing, calculating distance, counting layers/counting holes, medium recognition and other controlled explosion mode. The thesis is based on the simulation and digital technology. This paper makes study on the principle of counting layers/counting holes when the hard target is been penetrated. The principle of counting layers/counting holes researched in this paper is divided into two. The principle of counting layers/counting holes is based on amplitude comparison and medium recognition. The former adopts the method of the setting threshold compared delayed with the penetrating acceleration amplitude, completed to determine and count the layers/ holes. The latter adopts the pattern recognition principle, using feature extractor and classification, judging the layers/holes and counting. The realization of the two principles uses hardware, DSP software, FPGA+PCI hardware. Each has advantages and disadvantages. The thesis has given the design methods of realization, and part of the circuit. The hardware realization needs to design ASIC, the DSP software realization suits to the algorithm verification, the best choice is FPGA realization, which includes FPGA chip and PCI bus, suits for real-time processing and flexible using.
