Some key technology about dynamic modeling, dynamic simulaton, and transmission function of parallel indexing cam mechanism were dicussed in details. Theoretical foundation and technical support for the design of parallel indexing cam mechanism with excellent dynamic performance have been set up.It follows from the kinemics analysis of this kind of mechanisms that angular displacement and speed of Modified Cosine are similar to those of Gutman. The essential difference exists between their angular acceleration changing regulations. There are breaks for angular acceleration of Modified Cosine at the end or beginning intermittent motion. The angular acceleration of Gutman is smoothly continuous.Research on transmission function has been done. A new method for function construction has been proposed. Several transmission functions with continuous output acceleration or jerk were constructed using the method mentioned above. And verification method of transmission function was presented based on the virtual prototype technology.Dynamic modeling method for parallel indexing cam mechanism was presented based on multi-body system dynamics according to the analysis of mechanism characteristics. Rigid-flexible coupled dynamic model was established by means of ADAMS, Pro/E and ANSYS softwares.Dynamic modeling method mentioned above was verified correctly through testing model. It follows from simulation analysis that the effects of load inertia, input speed, and stroke angle to torsional vibration and acceleration were illustrated.Dynamic performances of commonly used transmission functions in engineering were analyzed in details. The application principle of transmission functions was presented based on dynamic simulation and analysis results. That is Modified Cosine transmission function being suitable for applying in low speed or low precision transmission cases, Gutman's suitable for from lower speed to higther speed as well as highter precision cases, Complex transmission is the best one for high-speed indexing cam mechanism.
