With the rapid development of national economy and science technology, various kinds of electric and electronic convertors and other non-linear load are widely applicated,this can make the voltage and current waveform distor and result in the serious depravation of electric power quality.So the electric power departments and many important business users now pay more and more attention to the electric power quality issue.On the one hand,the quality of electric power has declined,on the other hand the users require to improve the quality of electrical energy.So detecting and analyzing electric power quality is quite significant.Power quality monitoring system which can real-time monitor power grid information and provide power quality and base wave power for user should have the management function of the system and the friendly man-machine interface to be convenient for users to understand the operation condition of power grid. The paper proposes the combining method of DSP and MCU to achieve the research of the distributed power quality on-line monitoring device. In the hardware design,it mainly uses the advantage of the rapid processing speed of DSP to handle the real-time task of computation, data exchange and cooperative work is realized through the internal communication interface and the external communication interface. MCU is used to handle the system task that the real-time demand is not high, which is mainly including LCD display , keyboard management, clock control, system configuration management and human-computer interaction, etc. In the software design, it realizes a simple and practical high-precision harmonic analysis algorithm and the calculation method of various parameters. At the same time, C language and assembly language is used to make convenient debug and in CCS software. In communication, CAN bus technology is used to power quality monitoring system communication module. Because people demand the high electricity demand and supply quality, the distributed power quality monitoring system will be more widely application.Power quality monitoring is the premise of the effective implementation of national standard, which helps to strengthen power quality supervision for power sector and raise grid operation and management level, to provide decision-making basis for the power quality management of power supply and be satisfied with the requirements of power quality in power market. Therefore, the development of power quality on-line monitoring device which can satisfy electric power industry demand is a important aspect of the current research power quality problems.
