Impact roller is a new kind of compacting equipment which is produced by using impact technology. Impact roller can achieve much better impact effect than traditional compacting equipment due to the combination of impact, rolling and rubbing, which is different from traditional compacting equipment.In this paper, the YCT25 Impact roller was taken as an object of study, and structure strength and impact force of impact wheel were analyzed by using explicit dynamical finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA when impact roller compacted soil. In the process of building finite element model, impact roller structure was simplified reasonably according to practical size parameters. In this paper, a finite computational region was used to simulate the infinite soil model, which was carried out by non-reflection boundary condition in ANSYS/LS-DYNA software. At last, the structure optimization design of impact roller was studied by using ANSYS classic optimization module under the condition of impact force kept unchanged basically, in which plate thickness was built parametrically, and the volume of impact roller was taken as objective function.Collecting above-mentioned results, a kind of method was put forward for analyzing structure of impact roller by using explicit dynamical finite element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA in this paper, the instantaneous impact force and stress states of structure could be simulated relative quickly. The analysis result provided the practical reference value for the production design and optimization.
