As the traffic increasing rapidly, aggravation of axis, canalization of traffic and continuity of high temperatures, the early destruction of asphalt pavement is very serious. Especially, the rutting is the most common phenomenon. The anti-rutted performance of High Modulus Asphalt Concrete (HMAC) is very excellent, which is generally focused by domestic and international professional personage. Combination climate and traffic conditions and road structure characteristic in China, the technical performance evaluation system is established based on the systematically research of the technique performance. It has important practical significance for HMAC promotion and application.For the functional requirements of HMAC, raw materials such as the asphalt, the aggregate, the breeze and the high modulus additives and so on are researched, which can provide data for the experimental study of HMAC. Three types of asphalt mixture which are HMAC-16, HMAC-20 and HMAC-25 mixed with different kinds of modifier are chosen to study static and dynamic modulus at 15℃,20℃and 60℃. The influence of temperature, gradation, types of additives to modulus is systematically analyzed. The relevant of dynamic and static modulus is approximately proposed. HMAC's modulus indicator is defined. Also, road performances such as high temperature, low temperature and water stability are evaluated by the rutting test, the single axle penetration test, the low temperature test, Marshall immersion test and freeze-thaw splitting method. The results indicate that the pavement performance is very good. Combination domestic study results and basing on the study results of our lab, the technical performance evaluation system of HMAC is established. Finally, the construction techniques and quality control methods of the HMAC are educed through the entity pilot project paved, which can provide technical supports for the promoting of HMAC.
