Asphalt pavement plays a leading role in the highway construction of China. HMA (Hot Mix Asphalt) is one of the main suitable asphalt mixtures. However, HMA produces a series of problems because of the higher temperature in the construction, for example asphalt aging, harmful gas emissions and high energy consumption and so on. It will achieve a multiplier effect, if the HMA with good performance can be operated in the low temperature conditions.This paper first proposed "retardable viscosity" concept of asphalt, and put forward technical requirements for this kind of asphalt, the paper analyzed the difference between the retardable viscosity's asphalt mixture and HMA. The next it researches mechanism of the asphalt by the macro test and micro analysis, results show that an additive can reduce mixing temperature, at the same time can ensure way-use performance.Two retardable viscosity's asphalt technical nature was tested on the basis of the study, the results show that the asphalt's technology property is better than the matrix asphalt. This article explores the influence factors of retardable viscosity, study found that the additive has selective for matrix asphalt, at the same time it's dosage and various ratio of between the elements notable can influence on the effects of retardable viscosity; then modification process also have certain effect.Research results can promote the development of energy conservation and environmental protection asphalt, which has certain directive significance and application value.
