Energy saving, environmental protection, sustainable development have become thecommon concern over the world, it is very necessary to study an energy-saving andenvironmentally friendly asphalt mixture, replacing the traditional hot-mix asphalt mixture inorder to reduce energy consumption and emissions. The warm mix technology was proposedunder the above background. Warm mix asphalt reduces the viscosity of asphalt by addingadditives and makes the mix and construction of the asphalt mixture to be taken at a relativelylow temperature. The temperature can be reduced by about30℃and the road performancesreach or are close to the level of hot mix asphalt compared with the hot mix asphalt.Karamay70#asphalt was taken as the matrix asphalt in this paper, the penetration, thepenetration index and the softening point at high temperatures, at low temperature ductility,as well as viscosity at60℃and135℃wereanalyzed. The chemical structure and viscosityreducing mechanism of the organic viscosity reducer of Sasobit were introduced, and thewarm mix asphalt binder with Sasobit was prepared. Then, the storage stability of warm mixasphalt binders with different contents was studied, the penetration changes of matrix asphaltwere compared with those of the warm mix asphalt binders with different contents and atdifferent temperatures, and the viscosities of matrix asphalt and warm mix asphalt binderswith different contents were compared at60℃and135℃. Furthermore, AC-13warm mixasphalt was taken as the study object, mix design was conducted, the optimum compactiontemperature was determined combined with the viscosity-temperature curve and variabletemperatures and compaction times. Finally, the rut resistance at high temperature, crackresistance at low temperature, water stability and fatigue performance of AC-13warm mixasphalt mixture were evaluated.
