Ultra-thin wearing course is a new technology that could be used on highway preventive maintenance, which can improve the ability of flatness, roughness, abrasion resistance, noise reduction, simple and quick construction, better durability, and then attracted more and more people. As the Ultrathin wearing course is so thin layer that there will be some slipping phenomenon, and this would result in serious construction damage. In order to increase the bonding of interlayer, tack coat should be applied in the interlayer.Modified emulsion asphalt is one kind of tack coat that have been used commonly, The research used different technology to produce modify emulsion with better bonding strength, firstly the original materials and add dosages should be fixed by Orthogonal test, such as modifier dosages, emulsifier dosages, PH value, solid content and so on. Making processing would also affect the function of modified emulsion asphalt, then tryied to figure out other factors such as emulsion temperature. finally, all the optimal values of these factors were given by Orthogonal test, using mixture direct shear test to show the rationality of this proposal. As a good tack coat material, the High performance modifies asphalt emulsion can be an effective solution to improve low solid content, low viscosity, and its every indexes can meet the regulatory requirements. Then the mixture experimental verification tests show than the interlayer material can meet shear strength, anti-pull-out strength. So the high performance modified asphalt emulsion can substantially increase the bonding condition between the asphalt pavement.
