In recent years, the steel structure because of its stable quality,safety,reliability, high strength,light weight and the higher manufacture industrialization degree obtained more and more widespread application.The steel structure component section is quite slender, such component when withstand pressure, bending or pressure and bending, if the stiffness is insufficient, buckling destruction often occurs. Moreover, the stability of steel structure calculation is more complex,in the field of crane steel structure,there is no available stability of steel structure calculation software using rules, so how to realize the fast and accurate calculation is particularly important.In this paper,the jib of portal crane, the tower body of tower crane and its two-rod jib are as the research objects, researching and developmenting the stability of the steel structure CAD system that can calculate the stability of the steel structure, for improving the efficiency and accuracy of the stability calculation, reducing the design strength of the designer.The main tasks are are as follows:(1) The sections contain the sections of the category of the Design rules for cranes (GB/T3811-2008) and their appropriate expansion.The calculation method of the overall stability and local stability of the solid abdomen structure and the overall stability and Sub-limbl stability of the truss structure in the different support conditions and the axial force,one-way bending and two-way bending conditions is determined.(2) The calculation method of the overall stability and local stability of the variable cross-section solid abdomen structure and the overall stability and Sub-limbl stability of the variable cross-section truss structure in the different support conditions and the axial force,one-way bending and two-way bending conditions is determined.(3) The calculation method of the overall stability of the beams for rolling I-beam,rolling channel, rolling H-shaped steel and composite welder I-shaped section is determined, the calculation method of the local stability of the board is determined and the calculation method of the size and moment of inertia of the stiffened plate is determined.(4) The rational stability mechanical calculation models of the jib of portal crane and the tower crane and the body of tower crane are determined and the calculation methods of the stability of these structures are explored.(5) Creating the database of the sections, implementing the inquiry and editing for the database,the data in the database is called for calculation.The clear, simple and convenient system interface is explored.Using Visual Basic 6.0 to design the functional modules of the Stability of steel structure computer aided design system. The report file is generated through automatic document generation technology.The attached functions of the system are designed to make the system more perfect.
