Distribution network ring closing operation is the effective measures to improve reliability of power supplies in grid operation. But when the electromagnetic loop closing between substation in two different partitions, affected by operation condition of system and network parameter, it may cause a number of risks because of the large flow. It contains equipments overload, misoperation of relay protection, short-circuit overcurrent, electromagnetic loop and so on. It also affects power system security.In order to supply assistant decision to dispatching staff, it studies on relay protection setting value and strategy adjustment in this paper. It also takes distribution network operation as a kernel in this paper. It studies on influencing factors of steady-state current combining with actual conditions of 10 kV distribution network in Huizhou. It studies the influence of malfunction for excess current protection component caused by impulse current and steady-state current in ring closing operation,according to the principle of feeder controlled setting. It is also discussed that sensitivity of protective element by the fault of ring closing and rejection. It refers cooperation strategy of relay protection electromagnetic loop closing.It has a great significance to guide the ring closing operation in the area.
