This paper analyzes the loss in through-flow area which has an effect on steam cylinder efficiency, point out the direction for steam turbine through-flow area modification, and also it discusses the fundamental principle and advanced technology of steam turbine through-flow area modification.Zhangjiakou Power Plant Unit 4 in the East 300MW Steam Turbine Co, Ltd. to develop the earlier models, at the time of the design, processing, and other conditions, it has a lot of imperfections. According to question of #4unit in Zhang Jiakou power plant, Three modification schemes are extracted based on actual state unit. By comparison and analysis of the feasibility and thermo-economic performance of the unit, the optimal operating scheme is determined. Through the result analysis of the performance test and the environmental impact assessment after unit modification, there's remarkable improvement on the economic benefit and the environment.therefore.The experimental result indicated that after the transformation, before the unit consumes hotly has not achieved the transformation, to guarantee the value, but the transformation secondary fever consumes reduces obviously, before experimenting the value revision secondary fever to consume transforms dropped 353.65kJ/(kWh); The high,middle and low-presses cylinder efficiency achieve the guarantee value, the high-pressure cylinder efficiency enhanced 2.49%. Unit's power supply coal consumption drops largely, calculates the power supply coal consumption before the rated condition under to transform drops approximately 18.62g/(kWh), according to the coal price 490 Yuan/ton computations, every year's energy conservation profit is 14,598,000 Yuan. And the unit rated output enhanced from original 300MW to 330MW, enhanced unit's net profit. In summary, through the flow passage component transformation, reduced the unit to consume hotly, raised the cylinder efficiency, increased the unit output, and has obtained the remarkable economic efficiency.The environmental impact assessment was done after unit modification, The assessment result indicated that smoke and SO2 emissions drop largely, every year's smoke emissions drops 21ton/a, every year's SO2 emissions drops 257.93ton/a.The other units will be reconstructed gradually in Zhang Jiakou piant.
