The concrete-filled steel trussed arch bridge with rectangular hollow section(RHS) is a novel kind of bridge structural system, in which the structural characteristics are combined of arch and truss. By the arch rib, top chord and web member taking load together, the trussed arch structure provide the advantages of being simple in joint structure, lower internal force, higher in-plane stiffness and remarkable economic benefits, thus have a good application prospect. The mechanical behavior and structure design methods of the concrete-filled steel trussed arch bridge with rectangular hollow section are studied in this paper. The main achievements are summarized as follows:(1) Based on large quantity of reference, paper looked back the development of trussed arch bridges systematically and summarizes the structural style and mechanical characteristic of this type bridge. This paper puts forward the concrete-filled steel trussed arch bridge structure with rectangular hollow section (RHS).(2) Based on Dumbbell-shaped CFST Arch Bridge, a concrete-filled steel truss arch bridge with RHS was designed, and comparatively analyzed structural performance and technical economy.(3) Paper discussed following several aspects of concrete-filled steel trussed arch bridge with RHS over design:section form, general layout and structure form. Moreover, some useful suggestions on calculation method of member and joint were advised finally.(4) A summary was given to this paper, and the problems which need further study were presented.
