Ultrasonic Motor (USM) is a novel type of motors utilizing mechanical vibration in the ultrasonic frequency scale that is generated by the converse piezoelectric effect of piezoelectric ceramics, coupling the vibrational energy through friction to the kinetic energy of the rotor or the slider. Ultrasonic motors are very sensitive to the load, environmental conditions and the characteristics of the friction between the stator rotor. There is a big significance to study the electrical characteristics of ultrasonic motors, to test and analysis the key performance and to understand the law of motion, which can provide references for the development for high-performance driversThe drawbacks of the current testing method in USM was analyzed and the significance of this thesis work was pointed out. Based on the testing requirements and the advantages of computer control , the testing methods of linear and rotary USM were designed. According to the design goals, the construction of the ultrasonic motor testing and analysis system was completed. The hardware and software structure and software main process were analyzed in detail.By the modular design concept, and considering the function of the data acquisition card, the testing and analysis software was built using LabVIEW platform, which has various functions such as data acquisition, data playback, data processing and results display.According to the features of the sensors in the testing system, current sensor delay compensation was realized by curve-fitting software technique, which solve the difficult problem that sensor delay caused in analyzing the impedence of USM.Using the virtual instrument test and analysis platform, the performence of traveling wave rotary ultrasonic motor was tested with respect to input impedence characteristics, variable and exciting signals.
