With the promotion of the new socialist countryside policies, the focus of our construction has gradually transfered from urban to countryside. The living quality of people in towns and villages has got iunprecedented attention. However, in the rural area, most residents are accustomed to demolition of old buildings to new ones. So construction waste results astonishing growth. How to reduce the unnecessary construction waste, and to mend the existing housing moderately to improve housing quality, is the purpose of this study.Firstly, starting from survey, through the entity questionnaire A survey of the technical indicators of existing housing, covering the specific function of rooms, building construction details and other parameters. The network questionnaire B research started from people's will to the reconstruction and were analysis from the five aspects of basic function, comfort, safety, durability and environmental performance, respectively. Then three factors were explained in the method of Systematic Analysis, which are impact factor, improvement factor and building body. Impact factors include the regional and climate features, family composition and resident behavior, culture and technology, etc. All the improvement factors that need to be reconstructed were brought out from the practical point of view, listed out by different levels, stated specificlly. According to the properties of existing houses and their owners, all the houses were divided into subsistence, comfortable and well-off three types. Then according to the will and the size of their investment houses is divided into three grades from low to high. The principle of refurbishment is brought forward as follows: base on the residentant and local conditions, stress the dual sustainability of the functional improving and building materials, achieve the integration of eco-Residence and the economic benefits. Reconstructing strategies were presented in three levels from the conversion of living patterns, integration of functional spaces and technologies for refurbishment, correspondingly. Firstly, changes in living pattern took the transfer of life core and the DKL model composition as the starting point. Second, feature space improvement were analyst separately from two level: the defination and optimization of feature spaces such as public life space, housework space, private space, and physiological hygiene behavior space and production space. In the technical level, presented the relevant strategies for safety, durability and environment performance respectively.
