China is a large agricultural country, of which more than half people are famers among 1.3 billion all. For a long time, the countryside has once been neglected due to the constraints of urban-rural dual policy, result in the lack of rural infrastructure and the backward in living standard, the gradually increasing gap between urban and rural development. Rural housing, as an important means of production as engaged in production activities for famers, is not only the significant sign of the improved living standards, but also the major factor of the sustainable economic promotion in rural areas. In the face of China's rapidly urbanization and the opportunity of village development, the technical support of rural housing design method is much needed. The theme of this paper positioned from the thinking after investigations to the actual state of several rural residential in the suburbs of Beijing area. By Mapping, observing, interviewing, taking photographs of 16 rural houses in Taihou village, Pinggu District in Beijing, it records the furniture location, layout and investigates the relationship between the actual states of living behavior and their own spaces, then summarizes the development and changes, problems and needs, evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of each function space, take an accurate grasp of use's potential requirements. After, the anthropometry data has been introduced to be the basis for the design of functional spatial scale, combined with production and living demand and housing mode of rural house, to design and summarizes various functional spaces with more appropriate scale and layout. Finally, it introduces the concept of modular to the design of new rural house, the various function spaces of rural housing is given to a"modular"concept. The dissertation analyzes the position of basic functional space, several common unit combinations, and classifies the family structure, family industry and family life mode, which is taken to be parameters for chosen, the influences to the design of housing plan from different family factors. Taken the above research and analysis in consider, it combines 7 plan in different mode of life. Hope to provide basic methods and data as achieving modular and menu-style rural housing design early.
