Recently, Guangzhou Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) has been put into trial use. People pay more attention to BRT. As a solution of urban public transit system, BRT has obvious advantages compared with other traditional bus transit system in Guangzhou. The operation of BRT has also achieved good social benefits.This paper firstly introduces the BRT definition, BRT structure, operation characteristics, and compares domestic BRT operation system, then focuses on the detailed analysis on passengers, saturation of the platform, and bus operation of Guangzhou BRT. It also selects Zhongshan Road as a sample to compares with the transportation before and after the BRT operation. Finally, based on the concept of Genetic Algorithm, it sets up a module for optimizing bus line scheduling, and analyses the simulation result obtained by the application of Matlab.
