With the development of the manufacturing technology, plenty of domestic cutterheads of shield machine had been manufactured independently, however the design were mainly based on experiences, there is an blank of complete cutterhead design theory. The finite element analysis is an important method for the cutterhead aided design and a finite element model is the foundation and prior condition to the analysis. Due to the complexity of the cutterhead'structure, establishing a finite model is not only time and energy-consuming, but also bring inconvenience to the research of cutterhead. In order to solve the problem, this paper carries on the secondary development of ANSYS based on C + + Builder and APDL, and established a FEM model of cutterhead automatically generation and calculation system. This paper collects the widely used EPB shield cutterheads and classifies the structure of the cutterhead into several basic modules due to its characteristics of the topological structure and builds a block module assembly method. The FEM modeling program is realized by APDL, the user interface module and the calling program of the FEM model are realized by C + + Builder. The system provides a convenient and efficient tool for the cutter designers. It can automatically generate the corresponding finite element model of the cutterhead and then calculate it, greatly increase the efficiency of shield cutter finite element analysis. Two parts are concluded in this paper: the preparation of user interface application by using C++ Builder and the programming of APDL language command stream. As a bridge, the interface application collects the input parameters, and then calls ANSYS,executes the APDL command. The automatic generation and analysis of FEM mode of cutterhead is carried out on the interface of the system. This paper develops a system of cutter heads'finite element analysis which can complete the cutter heads'modeling and analysis in a few minutes, and provides a convenient and efficient platform for the researchers.
