Compare with rare earth Terfeol-D magnetostrictive materials, Fe-Ga-Al alloy as a new type of magnetostrictive material has some characteristics such as low saturation field, high permeability, small brittle, high tensile strength and so on .It has broad application prospects . This paper studied cast, rolled state, the crystal structure after heat treatment, magnetostriction of Fe80-xMnxGa15Al5 (x=0,0.5 ,1 ,2,4 ,6) series alloys,and measured room temperature magnetic loops and Vickers-hardness.The results shows :Cast alloy is the structure of disordered bcc and the grain of alloy is Coarse. Largest Magnetostriction coefficient of cast alloy Fe80-xMnxGa15Al5(x=0,0.5,1,2,4,6) is Fe76Mn4Ga15Al5 ,to 106×10-6 .The alloy with heat treatment is the structure of disordered bcc and the grain of alloy is coarse too.The major orientations of the annealed alloy are {1 12} 110 , {1 11} 110 of a orientation and {1 11} 011 ,{1 11} 112 ofγorientation. The largest magnetostriction coefficient of Fe76Mn4Ga15Al5 alloy is 59×10-6;The major orientations of the annealed alloy are {1 12} 110 and {1 11} 110 ofαorientation. The largest magnetostriction coefficient of Fe76Mn4Ga15Al5 alloy is 96×10-6, larger than annealed alloy.The effect of Mn element on alloy magnetostriction coefficient is obvious.The magnetostriction coefficient of alloy improved with Mn content increased and the maximum increase appeared when Mn atomic ratio was 4.Compared with the alloy without Mn , the magnetostriction coefficient of cast alloy is 82 ppm ,improved 32%. The magnetostriction coefficient of the rolled alloy is 106ppm,increased 4.8-fold. The magnetostriction coefficient of the quenched alloy is 96ppm, improved 11.6%. The magnetostriction coefficient of the annealed alloy is 59 ppm, increased 1.2-fold. Alloy magnetic loop linearity is better, and almost has no remanence and coercivity. It is benefit to repeated magnetization of materials.The Vickers-hardness of alloy increased with the increase of Mn content.
