With the growing global energy crisis and the serious environmental pollution caused by the traditional fossil energy, development and utilization of clean energy, especially wind energy, has won more attention around the word. Wind power has become one of the main forms of new energy.Based on the background of wind power, this paper descripts the development of wind power status and trends, overviews characteristics of the current mainstream wind power. A new dual-stator winding induction power system is proposed. Its generator is different from traditional induction generator. It has two pair windings in the stator: One is the power winding, supplying power to load via uncontrolled bridge rectifier; the other is control winding, by controlling on which can keep power winding DC side voltage stable. Because the wind power system can output the constant DC energy, it can meet the requirements of HVDC and can be connected to grid by grid inverter.This paper regards a 30kW dual stator-winding induction generator wind power system as research object, indicates the grid-connection method, compares this system with the current mainstream wind power systems and points out this system has many advantages, then does some research on the system's grid-side inverter, discusses mathematical model and control strategy. Based on theoretical analysis, this article designs the hardware and software and connects the inverter to the wind power system for debugging. The output current of the inverter has a high degree of sinusoidal, symmetry and low harmonic content, achieving grid requirements.The paper designs a platform based on virtual instrument of wind turbine simulations for studying the characteristics of wind turbine and further research on DWIG in the laboratory, with an asynchronous motor to simulate the wind turbine by analyzing and comparing properties of the wind turbine and the asynchronous motor. Through the software which is designed by LabVIEW, the output characteristics of induction motor are monitored and the asynchronous motor is adjusted by motor drive so that the output characteristic of the motor can be consistent with the characteristics of wind turbine. This platform, together with grid inverter and generator, constitute laboratory research platform of wind power dual stator winding induction systems.Wind turbine simulation and the maximum wind energy capture can be realized on the platform.
