Test equipments are essential facilities for the production of industrial products. Almost every factory needs to be equipped with efficient and reliable test equipments to support routine production. Concurrent Design (CD) is a relatively new design management system. The basic premise of CD is around two concepts. The first is the idea that all elements of a product's life-cycle, from functionality, producibility, assembly, testability, and others, should be taken into careful consideration in the early design phases. The second concept is that the preceding design activities should all be occurring at the same time, or concurrently.According to the requirements and features of test equipment design, the paper applies CD to the test equipment development, and proposes a theoretical system of test equipment development based on concurrent design (CD-TED system), fully describing it from three aspects, CD-TED organization, CD-TED process and CD-TED method.CD-TED organization optimizes the original organization with some measures, such as establishing DFT objective, organizing IPT teams, constructing test-centered task model and so on. The key of CD-TED organization is that the designers of the test development team should be given much more say in the overall design process.CD-TED process is a concurrent and integrated development flow , which uses DFT tracking rule, evaluation feedback micro-circulation, and other methods to optimize the test equipment development process. It significantly increases new products'quality. and productivity.CD-TED method combines test equipment design with the ideas of"Reliability design","Seriation Design","modularization Design", and"Man-Machine Engineering". It builds CD-TED tree diagram to present the summary of extensive practical solutions and methods about test equipment design, making them easily be referred and used by the people who are working on it.In addition, CD-TED system has been applied in actual projects of X Company. It obviously shorts new product develop period and improves the design quality of test equipment. As a result, X Company achieves a greater profit than last year.
