As a new type of structural system, Semi-Rigid Connection Steel Frame with Cross-stiffened Steel Plate Sheer Walls combines with respective advantages of the semi-rigid frame and the steel plate shear wall, on one side, it increases the lateral stiffness of the semi-rigid frame by setting up steel plate shear walls, on the other hand, it raises the economic efficiency by setting up the semi-rigid connections. At presents, the research on this type of structural system still remains limitied in the domestic or abroad, therefore, in order for a better understanding of the seismic behavior of this structure, it is necessary to research on the failure mode, the energy dissipation and the ductility. The thesis presented herein is the result of the efforts devoted to developing the structural system in seismic behavior with methods of both experimental research and computational simulation.A one-bay, two-story experimental specimen of Semi-Rigid Connection Steel Frame with Cross-stiffened Steel Plate Sheer Walls was tested under cyclic reversal loading, the seismic behavior including the failure mode, load carrying capacity, stiffness, energy dissipation and ductility was studied by analysis of the testing phenomena and data. The experimental results demonstrat that the structural system has good ductility, energy dissipation and stabilized hysteretic behavior; during the entire process of loading, the semi-rigid connection has no significant deformation, the displacement of the structure is controlled effectively by the steel plate shear walls, the structure is damaged because of the tearing of the weld of the column base and the large out-of-plane distortion. On the basis of the experimental study, this paper applies nonlinear finite element software ANSYS to investigate the mechanical properties under monotonic loading. The feasibility of the finite element model is certificated by comparing the finite element results with the experimental results. Moreover, this paper systematically analyzes the influences of panel slenderness ratio, stiffness ratio of stiffener, axial compression ratio and type of beam-column connections on the load-carring capacity, lateral stiffness and the laws of the distribution of internal forces. Finally, conclusions drawn from this research on seismic behavior of"Semi-rigid Connection Steel Frame with Cross-stiffened Steel Plate Shear Walls"are summarized and recommodations about future design procedures on this new type of structure are made.
