As a new type of structural system, Semi-Rigid Connection Steel Frame with Steel DeepBeam combines with respective advantages of the semi-rigid frame and the Steel Deep Beam,on one side, it increases the lateral stiffness of the semi-rigid frame by setting up Steel DeepBeam, on the other hand, it raises the economic efficiency by setting up the semi-rigidconnection. At presents, the research on this type of structural system still remains limited inthe domestic or abroad, therefore, in order for a better understanding of the seismic behaviorof this structure, it is necessary to research on the failure mode, the energy dissipation and theductility. The thesis presented herein is the result of the efforts devoted to developing thestructural system in seismic behavior with methods of both theoretical derivation research andcomputational simulation.A one-bay, one-story experimental specimen of Semi-Rigid Connection Steel Frame withSteel Deep Beam under cyclic reversal loading was built through the finite element analysissoftware, the seismic behavior including the failure mode, load carrying capacity, stiffness,energy dissipation and ductility was studied by analysis of the testing phenomena and data. The experimental results demonstrate that the structural system has good ductility, energydissipation and stabilized hysteretic behavior; during the entire process of loading, thesemi-rigid connection has no significant deformation, the displacement of the structure iscontrolled effectively by the steel shear walls. Moreover, this paper systematically analyzesthe influences of depth-width ratio and stiffness of beam-column connections on theload-carrying capacity, lateral stiffness degradation, energy dissipation.Finally, conclusions drawn from this research on seismic behavior of Semi-rigidConnection Steel Frame with Steel Deep Beam are summarized and recommendations aboutfuture design procedures on this structure are made.
