| A practical example is used as a numerical model to investigate the structural performance of the residential building. This paper simplified the diaphragm structure and estbalished the three-dimensional model for light gauge steel framed residences. According to the current Chinese Code for Seismie Design of Buildings. General finite element analysis is adapted to analysis the global structural behavior of the model building , The analyses are focused on how to arrange the brace members , and study the time history response of the residences underhorizontal , under the condition of 9 seismic fortification intensities , fequent,inrfequent . Further numerical analyses are employed to compare the displacement, inter-storey displacement angle , main member forces,skin stress, structure acceleratino response spectra of the structural models between considering stressed skin diaphragm and without considering stressed skin diaphragm in different seismic waves and make internal force check for the main members.The investigation of the present article demonstrates that the cold-formed thin-walled steel members can be used to build multi-story residential buildings in high earthquake intensity regions . The requirements suggested in the Chinese Design Code,such as the displacement , stress ,can be satisfied without dificulty. It is very important to employ stressed skin diaphragm in the structural system, as they can greatly increase the rigidity , and also illustrated that the cold-formed thin-walled steel members has advantage in steel consumption . |
