In this paper, based on the governor design for Jinping I, II and Guandi hydropower stations, and with the investigation for governor technology development trend and hardware performance, the selection proposals of hardware configuration for the huge hydro-power unit's governor are put forward.By the analysis of guaranteed regulation computation report, this paper presents the effective way to improve huge hydropower unit's contribution for safety and stability of power grid and to improve long-distance transmission ability with huge power sources is to apply crossing redundancy, adaptive governor with variable parameters and nonlinear robust control technology in governor design of huge hydropower units.The research result would directly guide the design, optimized tender plan and then provide the necessary basis of the theory and practice for Jinping I,II and Guandi hydropower stations, meanwhile, also provide useful reference for other similar projects'design and tender.
