Global w arming i s a urgent c hallenge of humanity. How could w e t ake advantage of the international status in the new low-carbon economy that is also a challenge of China. With the 2008 B eijing Olympic Games, Shanghai World Expo 2010 have been successful opening, the green concept and the low carbon concept gradually are supported by more and more people. Therefore, in China, how to use the energy reasonable and efficient in the construction of city, it's a great challenge of the urban designer.Firstly, this pa per analyzes t he n atural e nvironment and t he e conomic environment under low-carbon and introduces the development of related concepts. Then, this paper introduces how the low carbon concepts use in the regional planning, the master planning and the urban design. In view of this situation, this paper analyzes what design is suit for different areas with diffrent cities from the technical and design, and list a large number of domestic and international cases which are useful for low carbon c ity c onstruction. F inally, the pa per make a prospect o f l ow-carbon c ity developmen, and forecasts future low carbon trends..This paper argues that urban design should be combined with the low-carbon development ,under the influence of global warming. But different urban areas, the characteristics of i ts urba n c onstruction, ur ban de velopment de nsity and the corresponding urban functions are different. So we can't use a ge neral practice of low-carbon i n di fferent r egions. In view of thi s s ituation, t he a uthor did comprehensive considerations from the technical and design, and developed different systematic low-carbon urban planning strategies suit for different areas.
