The drawing process is the key of automobile panel forming process. Most of the panel products are formed by one drawing process, which is decided by the characteristic of panel forming process and quality of automobil panel. So the process design of the drawing die surface is very important, and it is pivotal factor of panel forming.The characteristic of automobil panel forming, as well as the designing principle of press direction, blankhoder and addendum surface is deeply researched in the paper. The system adopted die surface design method which is based on knowledge engineering. According to the geometrical information and feature information, the system can find reasonable design knowledge in the repository for die surface design.Press direction is very important to the die surface design and other forming working procedure. The largest projection area method and the smallest drawing depth method is proposed to optimize the press direction. In the paper author break through the trditional two-dimensional manner for feasible zone and objective function of press direction, and adopt three-dimensional manner for the calculation of feasible zone and objective function.Blankhoder is an important component of die surface, and it is the key factor on panel forming. Blankholder templates of level, cylindrical and conical shape is povided in the system. Meanwhile the system adopt line sweeping method with UG/UDO(User De-fined Object) and UG/SO(Smart Object) technology to creat blankhoder. Based on the previous system ,author adds three method for blankhoder design which is created by curves. Blankhoder design automation and intelligentization level is raized.
