Research On The Development Process Of Folk Dwelling And Settlements In Southern Jianghan Plain

Jianghan Plain is at the center of Hubei province,Surrounded by hills except south where the Plain adjacent with Dongting Plain of Hunan province.There are a lot of rivers overflowed the Plain where tha climate is wet and hot in summer but dry and cold in winter,so flood and drought intervein the four seasons.Beacause of the different entironment and influenced by circumjacental culture,there are different architecture culture in the plain. This thesis force on the folk dwelling of southern Jianghan plain, which is rare and lack of research. And then tracing its culture and exploring its status, the thesis analysis the existing folk dwellings and towns'patterns. At the same time, the full text Contrast it's morphology with the northern Jianghan Plain. At the end, the thesis analysis the historical causes of the folk dwellings and the towns on the southern Jianghan plain.By summarizing a large number of historical documents, the thesis defined the same strain of cultural identity and language systems. Then,referenced the immigration from a cultural point.The third and the fourth chapter is the main part of this thesis. Firstly, by researching the status of folk dwelling and settlements of southern Jianghan plain, the chapter Come to a conclusion that it hasn't developed before the Ming Dynasty. And then, from the natural environment and local people's mentality etc. aspects the chapter in-depth analysed its construction reasons. Then the chapter studied the lots of towns and villages, which emerged in the time of Ming to Qing dynasties. By comparing the existing residential areas and the towns, the chapter summarized same specific features of folk dwelling and settlements of southern Jianghan plain.Chapter V explored the historical background of residential areas and the town of settlement patterns of southern Jianghan Plain. The chapter in-depth analysed the role played by the South Jianghan Plain.At the final chapter, the thesis summarized the historical causes of folk dwelling and settlements of southern Jianghan plain from the natural environment, regional culture, migratory movements, economic development.
