The climate changes give big rise to the nature,ecology and social system of the whole world, Climate change has increasingly influenced human life. Carbon Emission has been the main reason of the global warming. As one of the three sources of the Carbon Emission, city transportation became the main target of reducing the Carbon Emission. Our country is going through the stage of fast economic developing, fast urbanizing, over-growing carbon emission and the social transformation, so low carbon transportation will be the key way to the development of low carbon traffic system in our country. As the start point of most of the citizen's city activities, the residential district has the largest areas in the city and it has the most concentration of residents, so the rationality will affect the residents making choice between low carbon transportation and high carbon transportation from the very beginning. This text will take the residential districts as the research object and low carbon as the entry point, to make deep research on the relationship of the residents'transportation feature, key point of residential districts planning and low carbon transportation. The main research goal of this text is starting from the feature of the residents'going outside and key point of residential districts planning, to lead the residential district developing towards the way that benefits low carbon transportationFirst, this paper looks back upon the research progress of low carbon residential district planning and construction at home and abroad, we made analysis on low carbon and low carbon city and other concepts; and we put forward that low carbon transportation means we going outside with low energy consumption and low pollution and reducing the CO 2 emission and carbon traces during our transportation At the same time, after we make clear the relationship of residents'transportation feature; existing residential district planning feature; key point of residential districts planning and low carbon transportation, this paper suggest that to planning residential districts based on low carbon transportation we should make sure that:it will contribute to reducing the transportation, non-motorized transportation and public transportation. Apart from this, it should have integrity, opening and sharing and humanistic design principles. For the sake of convenient public transportation we suggest three strategy as mixed functional space layout of the residential district, green landscape interact with the cities, disposing perfect public service facilities; for the sake of convenient non-motorized transportation we suggest three strategy as appropriate residential scale, perfect low speed transportation system, opening and balanced layout of the residential districts; for the sake of convenient public transportation we suggest some strategy as residential road nets that in harmony with city road nets, ways of land use which would contribute to the public transportation developing,reducing Internal parking of the residential districts and outside centralized parking lots.
