The requirement of Customers in the low-cost, high-quality and personalized has become China's current common challenges facing the manufacturing industry. Modular design and manufacture is an important way to meet these challenges,and also is advanced manufacturing technology which is in accordance with the most status and characteristics of Chinese manufacturing. Through the rational modular system,we can quickly combined into a personalized product to meet customer demand, at the same time, because of the mass production and mass management general module, which reduces the cost of production and management. But for now, China's enterprises still lack a complete, universal and workable method of product modular technology, therefore, the rapid development of enterprises depends on the mature implementation of modular design and the development of configuration design technology based on the modular product platform.This paper will focus on product in the fast high-quality design, low-cost manufacturing needs, the emphasis is in product configuration design, and build a case for wheel loader configuration design for the platform to support rapid product design, improve the zero-Component reuse, reduce product lifecycle costs.This paper describes the research background, the main research areas as configuration design for mass customization and its conceptual definition of technology is introduced, and discuss the product platform and product family concepts, content and product family configuration system. Platform-based product configuration design are summarized, studied the build problem of the product platform for function similar products, and based on bottom-up method, the use of improved products BOM, proposed a new method of establishing product platform, and take certain enterprise of certain types of loader product as an example to be implemented. Discuss the case-based and rule-based reasoning configuration design, and rule-based loader production configuration design. When case-based reasoning, using improved TOPSIS is accurate method for retrieve the most similar instances of products, and it solve the problem that the multiple similar instances can not be extracted, that has theoretical and engineering value for product design.At last, we combine CAE and configuration design, design the structure of no longer sub-module and test the work performance of combination structure so as to expand the configuration design process.This paper has certain theoretical innovation in the build of product platform and configuration sequence identification and case-based reasoning and the combination of CAE and configuration design so as to expand the configuration process.Through research, we get the loader product platform and methods and processes of configuration design in loader. The results show that loader is suitable for mass customization; it has great significance for improving the level of intelligence of corporation.
