With the rapid development of modern industry, mechanical seal is more and more widely used. Sealing technology is not a leading technology, but it often decides whether the machinery and equipment can operate safe.Designers render two-dimensional drawings of mechanical seal using CAD software generally at present, they have to refer mass data, calculate dimensions and render parts and assembly drawings in this way. Because of the similarity of sealing part structures, designers do a lot of repetitive work virtually. The cycle from designing to manufacturing of mechanical seal structure is lengthened, and the cost of production is increased.Therefore, the parametric design application procedure of mechanical seal components was developed with VC++ and Pro/Toolkit which is the secondary development tool of Pro/E in Pro/E Wildfire2.0 environment, a three-dimensional model library of mechanical seal components was built, a SQL SERVER database of the upstream pumping mechanical seal parametric design was established, data transfer with ADO database access technology was realized.Main parameters were calculated according to parameters which are input by user. Parametric design of mechanical seal components was realized and two-dimensional engineering drawings of mechanical seal components were generated.The sizes of two-dimensional drawings can be edited and the display of tolerances can be controlled by users.Tables can be created and mechanical seal assembly can be built automatically by procedure.In order to provide reference for manufacturing, the interference of assembly was checked. Designers can analysis whether the structure is reasonable according to results. This parametric design procedure of the upstream pumping mechanical seal was designed with the power of Pro/E, Pro/Toolkit, SQL SERVER, ADO and VC++ programming environment, the efficiency of designers was improved. And because the software is universal, designers can design more professional software applicable to own industry according to the design process.
