| There are several typical kinds of development about urban underground space in the city of Zhengzhou, including urban subway project, urban expressway project, Underground Park and so on. According to the analysis of existing theory and some practical projects, such as subway line NO.1, two tunnels engineering under Zhengzhou road and the construction of parking using public green area, the object of this research work provides experience and suggestion for the future projects in terms of urban underground space. As follow:1. Summarizing the types of utilization of urban underground space in the city of Zhengzhou:urban subway project, urban expressway project, Underground Park, civil air defense, the integrated traffic hub, etc.2. Combining Zhengzhou subway line NO.1, analyzing current transport situation and the importance and necessities in construction of rail transit, Giving Suggestions about the route and network planning, as well as the design of station,etc.3. Through the analysis of two tunnel engineering under Zhengzhou road (the tunnel of latitude road NO.4, the tunnel of Shenzhuang north road-Shangding road), traffic flow is forecasted. Meanwhile, The most suitable construction methods is chosen from Round shield method, Rectangular shield pipe jacking method, shallow cover underground excavation method, and can be expanded in similar projects, for example, tunnel under Gold water road or garden road.4. This paper discuss the issue of using public green area and square to built Underground Park, introducing the general planning, promoting the construction standard and the list of optimal location for Underground Park as reference towards the planning of future utilization of urban underground space in the city of Zhengzhou.
