The continuous accumulation of urban population is an indisputable fact and trend.By the middle of this century,the urbanization rate in China will increase from the current 57.35% to 80%.Under the background of high population concentration,land is the most critical resource for urban development,carrying unprecedented pressure and intensive demand.The development of underground space has great practical significance for improving urban space capacity and solving urban problems.From the process of the evolution of underground space in different countries,it can be seen that in order to achieve the improvement of the comprehensive benefits of underground space,it is necessary to realize the inter-connected,all-round development of the network.Therefore,it is necessary to clarify the “line” problem,that is,the relationship between the two points.As a relatively complex node of urban traffic,rail transit stations are represented as the endpoints of the underground space axis.The discussion of the underground connections between the two points has become the core of this paper.Under the background that the public space system with an orbital site as the core has grown to a white-hot background,we have found that when the horizontal stations of adjacent orbital stations are not far apart,it is possible to use walking to establish underground connections between two or more stations.Efficiently stimulating the efficiency of the orbital site to achieve expansion from point to axis to drive a larger area.Therefore,this paper proposes that the underground space between the rail transit stations should be regarded as the transition from the underground point space to the underground network city,and the underground space between the rail transit stations is the key step toward the underground space network.Following the above analysis,this article is written in the context of “Background Research—Basic Research—Design Essentials—Case Analysis”.Through this study,the underground space between the rail transit stations is clearly defined and its basic characteristics are summarized.Then,the main points of it were discussed from three aspects: "pre-design: development feasibility and mode study","design synthesis: design principles and strategy construction","design development: design of key node area".During the analysis and research process,the hardware foundations for the development and design of the underground space between the rail transit stations development value,development feasibility,and development model were explored;the design principles,space design strategies,and auxiliary design countermeasures for the underground space system at the station were preliminarily constructed;The key nodes of the underground space between the rail transit stations and related issues were summarized and elaborated,and the method of associating with the urban spatial elements was preliminarily discussed.Finally,through collecting and collating data,and conducting multi-site investigations and researches,the paper comprehensively interprets the practice of underground spaces in typical domestic stations,and summarizes relevant urban design experiences,in order to serve as a useful reference for China's future underground space development and design.
