The electric sanitation vehicle is of the character of environmental, beautiful outward appearance, and etc. and it can be applied to many environmental spaces of the city. Currently, due to the disadvantage of technology of electric battery, increasing the carrying capacity, to achieve lightweight construction are the primary task of the design. The assembly of frame as the core of the entire vehicle, the structural performance of it has a great impact on the performance of the full vehicle. To grasp the dynamic characteristics of the electric sanitation vehicle frame, and at the same time, to understand the dynamic stress and strain, the multi-body dynamics and finite element method are applied to its dynamic characteristics study.Firstly, the equivalent model of three degrees of freedom of the leaf spring is proposed, and based on which a preliminary static analysis is conducted. And the results show that the frame has the optimize space. A design model is established, and the result show that the weight of the frame is reduced by11.2%. However, this method has defects. Firstly, the impact of its deformation on the forces of frame itself is not considered. Secondly, it cannot reflect the dynamic loads of actual work process of frame.Considering the shortcomings of static analysis, the virtual prototyping rigid coupling vehicle model of the electric sanitation truck established in ADAMS, including the body and frame subsystem, suspension subsystem, tire subsystem, road subsystem. The vehicle dynamic simulation is conducted based on the model, and the dynamic loads on a particular points where the frame is hinged at is obtained. And then, to get the stress strain distribution, the finite element model of the sanitation truck frame is established based on ANSYS and the above dynamic loads is applied to the finite element model; Lastly, put it as a basis for the frame lightweight research. Thus we have understood the dynamics character of the sanitation truck, and the result show that the weight of the frame is reduced by4.29%.Comparing of the two optimization methods, we can find that the latter one takes the force of transient conditions of the frame into consideration, which is closer to the actual working conditions, and of better reference value. The whole research enriches the technology of frame lightweight design, and it also has some practical significance to the improved lightweight design.
