Pure electric bus is the main public transport for People’s daily travel, because it is not using gasoline or diesel fuel oil as a source of power, it has unique advantages in terms of protecting the environment. But because of its higher-mass, the shorter battery life, the manufacturing cost higher, and there is no systematic theoretical basis for the design and manufacturing process. Therefore, to improve the limited driving distance,shorten the development cycle and reduce the cost, this paper mainly adopts finite element method to study on lightweight of pure electric bus.According to the pure electric bus load mode and structure characteristics, a pure electric bus is studied based on the finite element software ANSYS WORKBENCH.According to the calculation results, the body structure of the pure electric bus is improved, the quality of the body is reduced, and the distribution of the material is optimized. According to the existing structure of the pure electric bus, the threedimensional model of the top, side enclosure, front and back enclosure and the chassis is constructed, and all the parts are assembled eventually. Then the model is introduced into the finite element software. The finite element model is dealt with by loading, mesh partitioning, material properties given, analysis and calculation, get the strains stresses and vibration characteristics of the several typical driving conditions of four wheels on the ground, emergency braking, turning and diagonal suspend etc. The program of lightweight research is raised for the structure improvement of the research object,effectively reduce body quality, improve the handling and increase the mileage according to the results. Finally, the optimized schemes of lightweight again is analyzed and verified. After lightweight research, the body structure in four typical driving conditions are meet the strength, stiffness and other requirements, the total weight of the body structure to reduce the 258.6kg, reduced by 8.5%.The analysis result provides basis for the design of the pure electric bus, and provides a reference for the rebuilding and lightweight of the body structure.
