Due to the shortage of the fossil fuels, such as the petroleum, natural gas, and mineral coal, the power under-supply, and serious urban pollution, the renewable energy has become a hot issue of research and development in the field of global energy. Because of the infinite solar energy, and with the breakthroughs in photovoltaic technology, the solar energy will become the new mainstream one, and the promotion and use in various industries. Moreover, the continuous improvement and automation of the production methods in the modern logistics, the Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) is the more common. Therefore, the realization of photovoltaic-powered AGV system is of more significant. The main works of this paper are as follows:First, to understand the development and research status of photovoltaic power generation, AGV and photovoltaic-powered car, it has in detail analyzed two power supplies of the AGV:battery-powered and non-battery-powered. And the final choice is the model of photovoltaic and battery-powered.Secondly, it analyses the principle of the V-AGV systems and the hardware structure. Combined with existing laboratory conditions, the experimental AGV device has been constructed, including hardware configuration, the principles of path detection and software structures. Then, the operation principle of the photovoltaic cell has been analyzed, its mathematical models, the engineering models and the models of MATLAB/SIMULINK have been established, and the output characteristics of the experimental photovoltaic cell by curves of simulation have been obtained. By analyzing detailed the various algorithm of classical Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), based on their strengths and weaknesses, proposed the idea of an improved interference observation has been proposed. Meanwhile, the results verify the superiority of the method of improved interference observation through MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation, which is of more efficiency in the power supply system. Finally, it designs an AGV system based on photovoltaic power through a combination of hardware and software. STC12C5A60S2is selected as the main controller for the power supply system, such as the integration of the BUCK circuit modules, data acquisition module, the drive circuit module, LED indicates module and charging and discharging control modules. Through physical experiments, it releases the photovoltaic powered AGV system, which is of satisfactory results.
