Due to the increase of urbanization, more and more large and medium-sized cities gradually become the important links and nodes of the transportation networks. The cities’ earlier network systems are getting more inadaptation with increased urban transit traffic flows, which leads to conflicts between transit traffic system and urban traffic system, seriously affects the normal traffic order of cities, reduces the overall efficiency of urban traffic, restricts the city’s social and economic development. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the adaptability of urban transit system and urban development system, and on the basis of the analysis results to set transit traffic organizations in the development of urban planning.The highway traffic volume and the direction distribution were analyzed according to the OD investigation of automobiles of Fuling to Shuanghekou freeway project. The traffic volume of Fuling to Shuanghekou freeway in the next twenty years was predicted by four-step method which includes social economic prediction, district volume prediction, traffic distribution prediction and traffic assignment. It is adopted that Nanfu freeway would be designed with four lanes in two directions and the design speed should be at80km/h. The orientation of Nanfu freeway was studied via the transportation condition of topography, geologic situation, hydrographic condition, paving materials transportation conditions and social environment. The OD argumentation and connection scheme of the main towns along the project was completed according to the rationality analyze of the investment cost, engineering difficulty, highway network structure. The comparisons were made between the schemes of the corridor of Nanfu freeway according to the regional economic development, distribution of productive forces, existing freeway and highway distribution. The route selection scheme investment index was analyzed based on the national economic, financial situation, environmental effect and energy saving effect. Also the comparison argument was carried out based on the engineering scale and cost between the recommended and the compared route, and finally the scheme was determined that the routine would origin from Lidu in Fuchang freeway and terminate at Shuanghekou along S303highway.
