Rear axle assembly as an important part of automobile transmission system is located end of the system. The function is increasing torque from drive shaft or transmission, distributing the torque to L & R wheels, then realizing differential effect. Meanwhile, The rear axle assembly still support vertical force, longitudinal force, cross force and its torque which is acted on road and vehicle frame. The quality and performance will influence directly safety, economic, comfortable and reliability of whole vehicle.This article researched rear driving axle of a van car, studied internal resistance and transmission efficiency, in order to realize fuel consumption reduction. Aiming at the power transport chain character, the under mentioned works are completed:● Set up the internal resistance test theory and method of rear axle assembly. Using national test flat and software of a research center, accomplished the internal resistance tests of rear axle assembly, and recorded data at various speed.● Established the bearing friction torque theory model of rear axle assembly, optimized bearing structure with ROMAX software, reduced bearing friction torque through friction torque test front and behind optimization with TTEKT examination equipments.Built modules of factor that increase bearing friction torque, of machining bearing installation and usage environment (axle housing), advanced optimization process for welding and machining, reached the target of reducing bearing internal resistance.The article studied the internal resistance of rear axle assembly for van car, analyzed assembly transmission efficiency, bearing structure parameters and machining process of axle housing. On the basis of analysis, optimized bearing structure data and manufacturing process, improved transmission efficiency by reducing internal resistance, reduced fuel consumption of vehicle.
