Surgical blade, one of the most common tools among medical devices, is in great demand.The traditional method of the blade is hand-grinding.Although some companies have used the semiautomatic grinder, the upper and lower material and thickness measurements still require manual operation,and the wheel wear compensation also needs to be added manually, resulting in the difference between the workpiece size consistency and low productivity.In this paper,,I design an automatic grinding machine,which sets blade automatic loading and unloading, grinding and as a whole, the grinding machine combines mechanical, pneumatic, electric mechanism and control system.According to the requirements of the blade edge grinding,I have designed the overall machinery and established the NC system,whose core is PLC NC system and supported by Siemens TIA Portal. Then I have developed the grinding sequence control programs. Based on the LVDT displacement sensor, workpiece size measurement method is used to calculate the compensation amount then realize grinding wheel compensation, in order to meet the requirements of the workpiece machining precise. Finally,considering the safety factors of the process,the alarm protection system has been designed. Compared with the traditional manual way and semi-automated machine,the new machine discussed in this paper can be fully automatic and improve the grinding precision,which has been proved by the tests.Therefore,it has a high practical value.
