Scalpel has a special property to save lives,and occupies an important position in medical equipment industry in China.Scalpel's function has been continuously improved and optimized after a long period of development and evolution.The realization of the scalpel's function depends on the shape of the blade,so,the shape of the scalpel's blade is varied in general,and the quality of the scalpel's edge is the key for its ability to achieve its desired function.There is still a certain gap compared with the developed countries according to the blade grinding technology for some small and complex edge of scalpel in China.At present,the scalpel's edge grinding equipment rely on import or cutting edge by hand-grinding in a considerable number of medical apparatus and instruments companies.The former increases the cost of production and the latter has an effect on the enterprise's production efficiency,is difficult to control the quality of product and lack of market competitiveness.Not only that,the scalpel's demand is large because it is consumable and there is huge population in China.Many hospitals are lack of confidence in domestic scalpel and choose the import in order to ensure the quality of surgery,which not only increases the cost of scalpel but also bring much financial burden to the patients.In the paper,a cutting edge machine for small scalpel is developed based on the above problems,which can complete the automatic grinding of edge for the small shape and the dimensional tolerances and geometric tolerances are strictly required.In the paper,the design of the structural of the machine is put forward including the machine bed,machine column,machine bed saddle and table of grinding to be achieved,and the fixture is developed according to the structural characteristics work piece.The machine has three linear motion axes and two rotary axes,the linear motion system consists of rails and screw mechanisms,which is equipped with a linear scale,the two rotation axes are realized by the double-axis turntable.The machine's internal and external protection are designed finally.Such as rails,screw,drive motor,grating and electric spindle and other mechanical standard parts used for the machine are selected and checked.The structure of machine is analyzed for the static and dynamic characteristics based on ANSYS Workbench15.0 finite element analysis software.The deformation and stress changes of the structure of the machine are studied in the finite element static analysis.The structure of machine is analyzed for the modal and harmonic response analysis in order to obtain the natural frequency of the first ten times and vibration mode in the dynamic analysis,which has a more comprehensive understanding of the dynamic characteristics of the machine.The control system of machine is build including the design of the main and control circuit of the machine,such as servo control system,the spindle control system and I/O interface of the numerical control system.Finally,the exploratory experiment of the machine tool's grinding process is completed and the best process parameters of grinding are determined by means of the theoretical calculation and analysis of experimental data.
