With the continuous progress of China’s reform of the social and economic system as well as the reform of modern enterprise management system, construction enterprises face increasingly fierce competition. Under such situation, owning a powerful ability of cost control has become one of the key factors that directly determine whether an enterprise can survive in the fierce market competition.This paper takes Kaiyun New Town Resettlement Housing Project at Hengshan County as an example to discuss the actual operation condition and problems encountered in cost control of construction enterprises during construction process. It also tries to find out ways to solve the problems, for the purpose of proposing constructive suggestions for domestic construction enterprises in term of cost control. Firstly, this paper introduces the background and significance of this research, the research status both home and abroad as well as the methods adopted for the research. The second part introduces the basic contents of cost control in construction projects of construction enterprises in detail, including the specific connotation of cost control, the controlled objects, controlling methods and steps, etc. The third part analyzes the status quo of cost control for the construction of Kaiyun New Town Resettlement Housing Project at Hengshan County as well as the control effectiveness. The fourth part proposes the strategy for optimizing the cost control of the construction project on the basis of the previous research. The author hopes that the proposed methods and countermeasures for effectively implementing cost control through analysis on Kaiyun New Town Resettlement Housing Project at Hengshan County in this paper can be successfully applied to the practical operation of other construction enterprises to provide certain reference value for improving their management level in cost control.
