| Cylindrical indexing cam mechanism has been widely used in the field of mechanical engineering,the commonly used planar expansion methods for the design of cylindrical indexing cam contour produce significant errors, Past cam design methods had errors in both contour designing and cam follower trajectory plane development. We used differential geometry theory of curved surface,its envelope theory and coordinate transformation. This paper focuses on the analysis and using surface development methods could well eliminate those errors. According to the movement law,we established the error-free equation of motion and then solved out the error-free trajectory equation of cam follower. And by using the some of the important theory and method, combined with the cam follower trajectory equation and with tool position,orientation equation to solve the error-free unilateral tool path equation. We use MATLAB software to compute the equation in coordinates, and can quickly get accurate machining cutter diameter curve and the unilateral processing the error-free unilateral tool path equation. On the basis of the calculation and analysis, cam’s profile can be accurately obtained by MATLAB software. Using MATLAB software to solve the coordinate values of the equation,at the same time using SolidWorks software generated in the space of cylindrical indexing cam contour, When we were doing machine work to the cylindrical indexing cam, we were using an original method of unilateral machining, which had improved the work efficiency, got a highly precise cam ridge profile, and finally eliminated errors in the design and manufacture process. This method can improve the performance of the cam and prolong the service life of the ultimate goal.However, machining for cylindrical indexing cam ridge is also a difficult problem, especially for the implement that controlling the tool’s position and orientation when it’s in unilateral machining. This paper focus on the analysis of the working process of the cylindrical indexing cam’s follower. We indicate the common errors in the plane expansion method. In addition, we put forward a kind of unilateral processing method of follower motion trajectory. Through research the motor process of cylindrical indexing cam ridge follower. In the end, we implement CNC machine experiments of the space of cylindrical indexing cam, and the test of cam ridge surface. |
