High pressure common rail technology is one of the key technologies of diesel engine to meet the requirements of energy saving and emission reduction, with high control precision, strong portability and can realize the flexible control characteristics, is widely used in modern diesel engine. The calibration of MAP and optimization of performance of high pressure common rail diesel engine is an important research content of electronic control system development. MAP directly decide the diesel engine operation process and performance. With the development of electronic control technology, the electronic control system of high pressure common rail diesel engine become more and more complex, further, the controllable objects and variables are increase rapidly. A complex MAP system was gradually formed in electronic control system. The calibration of MAP is a time-consuming and laborious work. It is more and more complex under the multi objective conditions. In order to complete the calibration of the high pressure common rail diesel engine better, improve the calibration efficiency and reduce the cost of the calibration. Model-based calibration was studied and the calibration of high pressure common rail diesel engine was completed.Research on Model-based calibration technique include design of experimental method, mathematical and the nonlinear optimization method, had been done. The Calibration of YN38CRD high pressure common rail diesel engine, with the fuel consumption rate as objective, fuel injection advance angle and injection pressure as the main parameter was carried out with the model-based calibration method. Halton space filling method was researched, and got the result of parameters combination; the data collection work has been completed by the calibration system with INCA; the prediction model of engine performance was established by using radial basis function neural network; the targeted genetic operators was designed for parameter combination of high pressure common rail diesel engine, and these parameters were optimized by genetic algorithm; then the results was validated by bench test.The test results show that:the parameter of combination enlarged the economical scope of the diesel engine, and improved the economy of it. Model-based calibration method can effectively shorten the period, improved the precision and meet the needs of calibration of modern diesel engine. It can be the calibration method, theoretical foundation and technical support for the development of diesel engine which need to meet the IV and more emission limit.
