In order to adapt to the production mode of the many varieties of small batch. More and more companies will launch the theory of industrial engineering to the manufacturing process. Reasonable layout of the workshop and advanced production logistics system can greatly reduce the cost of the enterprise’s production and the waste of human resources. It reflects the advantage of lean thought in agile manufacturing. At first the article elaborates the research significance and research direction, then introduce domestic and foreign experts’research progress and related theory in the field of workshop facilities layout and simulation of the production logistics system. According to the actual situation, the method of combining SLP with genetic algorithm was carried out on the workshop layout design and optimization. It puts forward the improvement scheme and verify through simulation and analysis the production logistics system of bent axle.Through investigation of the NO.3 workshop and analysis the production logistics system and layout, the following problems found in the workshop:(1)the existing problems in current workshop facility and logistics planning;(2)material put in stock is not reasonable;(3)the staging area are not reasonable and not accurate enough.Apply the SLP method to comprehensive analysis the relationship between logistics and the logistics in each unit and the field data of the workshop, draw the facility location map and area between relevant figure, determine the planl through comprehensive factors. But only use SLP method to plan the layout of the workshop has limitation. to make up for the shortage, increasing use of the improved genetic algorithm on the basis of original. The objective function is minimizing the material handling cost between the equipments. The limited space of the workshop as constraint to establish mathematical model.Applying MATLAB software to programming and solve this problem. It put the layout plan 1 of the SLP method as part of the chromosomes of the initial population of genetic algorithm. For the population after encoding, through a series of operation such as selection, crossover and mutation, so as to realize the workshop facility layout design and optimization, finally get the layout scheme 2. It converts the 2D drawing of the workshop layout scheme 2 into 3D by the AEC factory design module of CATIA software, thus establish the digital simulation platform, finally improve the workshop layout scheme.Taking the crankshaft machining area as the research object, according to the process of the crankshaft machining and the actual situation, applying EXTENDSIM software to establish the production logistics simulation model. and after verification and validation, it runs the model to simulate.
