As the cascade hydropower projects in Lancang River in Yunnan Province are gradually put into operation, it is more important to systematically manage the operation of the reservoirs, which can create more benefit of the cascade reservoirs and significantly increase the stability and safety of the power grid. The operation and management of the cascade hydropower projects play an important role in the operation of power grid, as a result, it is of great significance to study the mode of the energy-storage and operation of cascade reservoirs.This Article, analyzing the joint operation of the cascade reservoirs on mid-downstream of the mainstream of Lancang River, responses to the governmental policies of energy conversation, emission reduction and building a resource-saving, environment-friendly society and aims to explore an effective way of energy conversation and emission reduction. Meanwhile, through study on the energy-storage and operation of cascade reservoirs and defining the management objectives of the cascade reservoirs, it is useful to strive a favorable generation plan and further increase the overall benefit of the cascades of hydropower projects.The study on the joint operation mode of the cascade reservoirs on mainstream of the mid-downstream of Lancang River is mainly based on the hydropower projects of "Two Reservoir-Five Cascades", which are located between Xiao Wan Hydropower Project and Jing Hong Hydropower Project. This Article firstly establishes the operation chart of cascade reservoirs based on relevant principles, methods and the specific features and requirements of each reservoir. Then, the optimal operation chart is achieved by optimization on the established operation chart. The conclusion part of this Article concludes the study result and raises some topics need to be further resolved.
