Elderly Hospital Place Spirit To Create

The question of providing for the aged posed by aging process has become a major problem facing China’s society, of which, the medicare for the seniors serves as an important part, therefore, old-age medical building facilities providing medical services for elderly patients have emerged in succession. Under the pressure of the imbalance of social and economical development and influenced by the architectural culture featuring modernism, most of the comprehensive hospitals including all types of medical buildings are in pursuit of working efficiency and profits, thus ignoring the emotional experience of patients. At present, the functional facilities and space of hospitals are not able to meet patients’physiological and psychological needs, in particular, the special existence of the elderly patients has not been given due attention.It is necessary for us to realize that in the development of medical buildings, we should pay attention to living demands and emotional experience after finishing medical tasks, while ensuring the effective operation of medial works. With the research and analysis of the environment of the hospitals in Beijing and Nordberg Schulz’s phenomenology of "spirit of place" as the theoretical basis, this paper analyzed the way of creating a favorable medical environment for elderly patients to find a sense of self-existence. At last, this paper also offers thinking factors and methods for creation of the place spirit of geriatric hospitals.
