The prediction of the districts transportation volume is a basis of transportation planning and management. The main research content of the thesis is about the modeling of the prediction and the development of the related management information system (MIS). The main results of the thesis may be summarized as follows.First, the analysis of the existing predicting methods of districts transportation volume is presented and three components of the traffic are given. They are the flow of trend, the flow of shift and the flow of leading increasing.Second, the affection on traffic flow volume by electronic traffic costing system (ETC) is discussed and a model of the traffic volume prediction is presented.In the last part of the thesis, a management information system (MIS) for transportation prediction based on the ETC and GPS applications are described. A design of the system is given and some of the functions have been realized.
