Presently urban traffic problem is a globally puzzle, especially in China in which urbanization become more and more. As a mean of improve urban traffic, Intelligent Transportation Systems obtain more and more recognition especially in China. During the tenth five-year plan, the nation provide key program about ITS including the project supporting this dissertation. In Febrary, 2006, China issued Nation Long-term Science and Technology Development Plan which put the Intelligent Traffic Manage Systems as an advantage field including traffic information share and urban traffic management. Urban traffic information extraction is the fundament of ITS and traffic information share.With social development, urban traffic constitute was changed and show the complexity, meanwhile, different complexity appear in different areas. This dissertation focuses on Key Technologies of Urban Road Traffic Information Extraction including the main contents as follows.1. According to the field traffic data from the representative cities, the urban traffic problems and reasons in China are given, then the solutions including ITS to these are given. The fundamental function of urban road traffic information extraction is provided which the concept is with data mining, information fusion and system integration, obtain the useful information and knowledge for traffic management and service from the related data source...
