The Study Of Urban Leisure Square Design

With the development of cities, urban leisure squares are becoming one of the important contents in our urban design, which have drawn concerns from both local government and ordinary citizens. While due to lack of such tradition of constructing leisure squares, architects usually have little references during their design. With references to publications and investigation reports from domestic and abroad, this paper describes the concept, research objects and development history of urban leisure squares from the view of city design; analyses and assesses their spatial integration, construction and elements through field trip as well as methods of environmental psychology and architecture semeiotics It not only points out the 揾uman-oriented?and 搒ystematic?principles for the design of urban leisure squares, but also forwards the systematic way of design in conjunction with architecture theory. On such basis, this paper discusses the trend for development and design of urban leisure squares in the new century to benefit future work in this field.
